Caso 45, a bookstore located in the San Martín neighborhood of Gasteiz and specializing in humor and noir novels, will be closing its doors in the coming weeks. Silvia Mansilla, the manager, announced this on social media, stating that the project, which opened two and a half years ago, could not be sustained against the challenges posed by online retail.
Mansilla explained that, "despite having done everything we could, our love for books could not prevent the closure." She cited the difficulties that online commerce presents to the viability of independent bookstores as the primary reason.
During its operation, the bookstore on Teodoro Dublang street served not only as a point of sale but also as a promoter of cultural activities. It consistently offered publications in the noir and humor genres, and hosted numerous book presentations and reading club sessions.
"We have built a small community during this journey. We will carry that experience with us forever," Mansilla added, emphasizing the value of the work accomplished.
