In 2025, Cáritas Diocesana de Vitoria supported 17,077 households and over 34,569 people in situations of poverty and social exclusion in Álava, with a focus on housing and employment.

Cáritas accompanied a total of 17,077 households and 34,569 individuals in situations of poverty and social exclusion during 2025. Specifically in Araba, the organization provided support to approximately 3,908 households, representing around 9,770 people, in a context where social exclusion is increasingly complex, prolonged, and silent, according to its officials.
Under the slogan 'Choose to love. Choose community/Hautatu maitatzea. Hautatu komunitatea', Cáritas Diocesana de Vitoria has launched its 2026 institutional charity campaign and presented key data from its annual report. The campaign highlights the importance of encounter, mutual care, and community building as a response to isolation, vulnerability, and the weakening of social ties.
«Social exclusion cannot be understood solely from the lack of employment or income», state the organization. «We increasingly find individuals who, despite having work or some support, continue to experience significant fragility related to housing, uncertainty, loneliness, or difficulty in sustaining a dignified life project».
Housing remains one of the primary factors of exclusion and social concern identified by Cáritas in 2025. 577 direct financial supports were provided through intervention offices, mainly to cover basic needs such as food, clothing, and housing. Additionally, ten families, totaling 28 people, participated in the housing support program promoted by Cáritas Diocesana de Vitoria.
The entity also notes a rise in precarious situations among young people, particularly linked to the inability to gain independence, low wages, and the challenge of building stable, autonomous life projects. Throughout 2025, Cáritas Diocesana de Vitoria continued to strengthen its programs for training, employment, and social inclusion, allocating nearly one million euros. Through its employment agency Lan Bila, 702 individuals participated in job search and career guidance processes, managing 294 job offers, of which 173 were filled. Furthermore, 15 individuals achieved legal residency.
«We cannot always change the world. But we can choose how to live in it.» This is one of the central messages of the institutional campaign for Corpus Christi, which encourages the rediscovery of the importance of bonds, closeness, and fraternity in an increasingly individualistic social context. The campaign aims to highlight the transformative power of small, everyday gestures: listening, accompanying, offering time, supporting processes, and creating spaces where people feel welcomed, recognized, and part of a community. All this work is made possible by the commitment of hundreds of volunteers and parish communities that sustain Cáritas' daily actions in the Alavés territory.
