As explained at the presentation, the event was attended by the Councilor for Sports and Health of the Vitoria-Gasteiz City Council, Ana Lopez de Uralde; the Provincial Deputy for Culture and Sports of the Provincial Council of Álava, Ana del Val; the communications manager of Laboral Kutxa, Kepa Ortiz de Urbina; and the race's technical director, David Cotillas. The athletes will arrive from nine autonomous communities of Spain, and Álava will be represented by the Alimco Campagnolo team. Additionally, for the first time, the classic will feature an international participant with the Occitan team Occitane Cyclisme Formation.
The Araba Vitoria-Gasteiz Classic is part of the Spanish Junior Cup, serving as the seventh scoring race of the season. The neutralized start of the event, organized by Inurri Sport Club Deportivo, will be at 11:00 AM from the Aretxabaleta shopping center, with the official start at 11:10 AM. Cyclists will face a winding 140-kilometer route with an elevation gain of 2,000 meters, including three ascents to Zaldiaran and two to the Vitoria pass.
Despite only six previous editions having been held, this classic has become a significant showcase for young talent aiming to transition to the professional peloton and UCI World Tour teams. Indeed, the list of past winners includes cyclists who are now professionals and have graced the podium or won the race in previous editions, such as the local rider Gorka Corres (Caja Rural), Hugo de la Calle (Burgos Burpellet BH), or Enekoitz Azparren (Euskaltel), as well as last year's winner Eñaut Urkaregi (Lidl Trek). Adria Pericas, winner two years ago, and Igor Arrieta (UAE), who finished second in 2020, are also professional cyclists this season.
