Monday, April 27, marks the beginning of the Álava festivities in honor of San Prudencio and Nuestra Señora de Estíbaliz. This festive eve will transform the streets of Vitoria into a stage for music and performances, with the retreta and tamborrada taking center stage. The main events will be held at the Provincial Council and Vitoria City Hall, with interpretations by members of the Municipal Folklore Academy.
The Plaza de la Provincia will become the main setting for the celebration, where trumpeters and drummers will perform the retreta. In addition, various artists will accompany the event, including A Contra Blues, the Kanta Berri Abesbatza Choir, Mala Brigo, and Artea Teatro Musical. After the retreta, around 10:00 PM, attendees can enjoy a pyromusical show by Valecea pyrotechnics, followed by dancing.

In the afternoon, gastronomic societies will hold their tamborrada, aiming for greater public participation. The parade will start from Siervas de Jesús street at 7:00 PM, passing in front of the Provincial Council until it reaches the Plaza Nueva. In the evening, the societies participating in the tamborrada will gather in the Plaza de la Provincia to parade through the streets of the Old Town, maintaining the festive atmosphere until midnight. Afterwards, at 00:30 AM, Joselu Anaiak will provide the grand finale with a popular open-air dance in the Plaza del Arca.
According to Euskalmet's forecasts for Monday, April 27, cloudy skies and possible stormy episodes are expected as the day progresses, though more to the south of Álava. Temperatures in Vitoria will range between 8 and 23 degrees Celsius, with two or three degrees higher in Laguardia. Regarding traffic, Tuvisa reports changes to line 4 (Lakua-Mariturri) starting from 2:00 PM on April 27 and throughout April 28. Vitoria City Hall advises against using cars on Tuesday, April 28, around Armentia, recommending the use of the Mendizorroza and Mendizabala car parks.
Additionally, on April 28, special services will be available to Armentia for enjoying the fields, with departures every 15 minutes from 10:00 AM to 2:30 PM and from 4:00 PM to 9:30 PM, from the Prado, La Paz (corner with Independencia), Catedral, and Camino de Armentia stops.
