Álava celebrates San Prudencio this Tuesday with a packed schedule of events for all ages, primarily in Gasteiz and Armentia, starting with the traditional Zortziko.

Álava is honoring San Prudencio this Tuesday with a comprehensive program of events catering to all tastes and ages. The heart of these celebrations is located in Gasteiz, with a particular focus on Armentia.
Following a lively night of revelry through the main streets of the city center and the Old Town, the festival officially began with the traditional performance of the patron's Zortziko. This act took place in front of the Provincial Palace, performed by the Txistulari and Trumpeters and Drummers Band of the Provincial Council of Álava.
Approximately one hundred people attended the cool festive start, with temperatures barely reaching 13 degrees Celsius. Present on the steps of the provincial headquarters were the General Deputy, the head of Equality, Basque Language and Governance, and the director of Culture and Sports.
Subsequently, the palace doors were opened for those who wished to sample a sweet wine from Rioja Alavesa or visit the plenary hall of the General Assemblies.
After the event, which also included a call for a “public care system,” some attendees made their way to the fields of Armentia. There, at 10:15 AM, authorities were greeted at the San Prudencio monument, followed by the procession's transfer to the Basilica.
In the city center, the next event of the day will be at noon with the XLV Tamborrada Biznietos de Celedón, which will commence at the Fountain of the Ducks.
