Abetxuko, the first neighborhood in Vitoria-Gasteiz to launch its festive calendar, is celebrating its annual festivities from April 29 to May 4. The official start was marked by the traditional 'Ave' descent, which made its appearance at 6:00 PM on a boat down the Zadorra river. This event has been a cherished tradition since 1980 and is a highlight of the local celebrations.
Following the descent, the colorful 'Ave' was paraded up El Cristo street by groups of blusas and neskas, accompanied by the lively tunes of the Biotzatarrak fanfarre. Six groups participated in the procession, showing the same festive spirit as those in La Blanca, albeit in smaller numbers.
The festival committee has organized an extensive program catering to all ages and tastes, with laughter, enjoyment, and community spirit as the main attractions. Musically, Joselu Anayak will perform at the Saturday evening dance, the Orquesta Natatxe on Friday, and Rebelsoulsista and DJ Xaibor on Thursday.
This year, the festivities hold special significance as Los Decididos celebrate their 60th anniversary, playing a prominent role on May 3, Veteran's Day. The year's motto, "May the party not stop! May nothing and no one stop us," encapsulates the vibrant spirit of the celebrations.
