The call for the twelfth edition of the Gazte Sortzaileak grant is now open for submitting Basque cultural projects. This initiative is aimed at young people between 16 and 35 years old, who will have until June 30 to register.
The Vitoria-Gasteiz City Council, through its Basque Language and Youth Services, and with the collaboration of the Provincial Council of Álava, has allocated 20,000 euros to this call. Selected projects will receive a grant of up to 4,000 euros and professional advice, with a six-month period to develop their creative process. All projects must be carried out entirely in Basque, focusing on oral expression.
Two age categories have been established: one for young people aged 16 to 24, and another for those aged 25 to 35. Projects can be submitted individually or in groups and can cover various disciplines such as theater, music, bertsolaritza (Basque improvised poetry), or audiovisuals. Preference will be given to small-format activities. To participate, it is essential to be registered in Vitoria-Gasteiz or the Historical Territory of Álava, and minors must present authorization from their parents or legal guardians. All necessary information is available on the City Council's website.
Furthermore, presentations of the winning projects from the previous edition will begin on April 18 in various venues across the Alavese capital, extending until September. In the last edition, 14 young people participated, and a total of 11 projects were submitted.
