The Vitoria Municipal Music Band and the Vitoria-born writer Toti Martinez de Lezea will collaborate for the first time on April 21 in a special concert narrating the city's history through music and literature.

The event, titled 'Vitoria-Gasteiz in ten melodies', will take place in the main hall of the Jesus Guridi Conservatory. This proposal merges the local history of Vitoria-Gasteiz with the symphonic music of Jesus Guridi and literature, thanks to the participation of Toti Martinez de Lezea.

"This unparalleled proposal will combine local history through the symphonic music of Jesus Guridi and, thanks to the participation of Toti Martinez de Lezea, literature."

The writer herself has created the texts for the concert and will act as narrator. These texts recount the city's evolution, from a small village to the beautiful city it is today, reflecting the work and struggle of its inhabitants over centuries, which enabled its development.
The concert is also a humble tribute to the men and women who strived to keep alive the history, customs, and characters of the city, such as the artisans who gave names to the streets, the builders of palaces and churches, musicians, and writers.
The central axis of the concert will be Jesus Guridi's emblematic work 'Diez melodías vascas', complemented by Jose Uruñuela's 'Maitea, nun zira?'. According to Luis Orduña, the concert's director, the music will engage in a dialogue with the literary creation, specifically crafted for this performance.
This event is part of the cultural mediation initiative developed by the Vitoria Municipal Music Band, which includes prior work with various social groups in the city. As a result, approximately 400 people from Bizan, Aspace, Itxaropena, and the street education program will attend the concert. Invitations can be collected at Musiketxea from 09:30 to 21:00, until full capacity is reached.
