The project aims to eliminate through traffic, restricting vehicle access solely to existing driveways from Cofradía de Arriaga street. This change is designed to resolve traffic congestion issues typically occurring during school drop-off and pick-up times.
The area, currently used for parking, will be repurposed for pedestrian use. A wider, open space will be created in front of the school entrance to provide a comfortable waiting area for families.
The renovation includes installing benches, planting new trees for shade, and painting colorful geometric shapes on the pavement to encourage play. Accessibility will also be improved with the addition of gentle ramps at both ends of the street.
The project has a budget of 230,000 euros and is expected to be completed within three months. This initiative marks the 29th intervention in Vitoria-Gasteiz as part of its municipal strategy for safe school environments.
