The Vitoria-Gasteiz City Council is set to modernize the public lighting system in the Jundiz industrial park and several streets in Zabalgana, with funding from an 800,000 euro commitment credit planned for 2027.

This initiative will involve replacing or upgrading 1,694 luminaires, leading to a reduction in municipal electricity consumption of over 1.1 million kWh annually. This will contribute to greater energy efficiency and environmental sustainability within the municipality.
The main intervention will take place in Jundiz, where almost all the industrial park's lighting will be renewed, excluding sector 21. A total of 1,107 luminaires will be upgraded to LED technology, utilizing the existing columns. This operation will modernize the network without requiring civil works, by leveraging existing infrastructure.
According to municipal estimates, this change is expected to save 843,000 kWh annually and reduce the electricity bill by approximately 76,000 euros per year. This represents a significant positive economic impact for the municipal budget.
The project also includes an intervention in Zabalgana, affecting 587 luminaires located on Mariturri Boulevard, Iruña-Veleia, Derechos Humanos, and Portal de Zuazo. In this instance, the action will consist of updating existing luminaires with LED technology. This measure aims to improve the energy efficiency of public lighting without replacing components that can still be utilized.
The projected savings in Zabalgana amount to approximately 287,000 kWh per year, equivalent to about 26,000 euros less annually in energy consumption. This will optimize public lighting management in both areas.
