Vitoria-Gasteiz to become mountain biking capital on May 2nd and 3rd

Vitoria-Gasteiz will host a new international mountain biking event on May 2nd and 3rd, bringing together high-level cyclists and enthusiasts, transforming the city into a hub for this sport.

The Alavese capital is set to become a major center for mountain biking throughout an entire weekend, thanks to the inaugural edition of the 'Vitoria-Gasteiz BTT Basque Country'. This event will gather international riders and enthusiasts of all ages, offering a wide range of competitions and activities.
The entire event will take place within the surroundings of Olarizu Park. This area will host both Saturday's competitions and the start, finish, and service zones for Sunday. Those interested in participating can register via the event's official website, where they will find all information regarding the program, routes, categories, and participation regulations.
On Saturday, May 2nd, the XCO modality BTT race will be held, as part of the Shimano Super Cup Massi calendar. This competition will count towards the world ranking of the International Cycling Union (UCI), ensuring the presence of top-level cyclists in cadet, junior, elite, and master categories. Additionally, races for children's and school categories will be organized, promoting cycling from an early age.
On Sunday, May 3rd, it will be the turn of the longer-distance races: BTT Marathon and BTT Half Marathon. Both routes will be timed and will feature competitive and open categories for cyclists of different profiles. The BTT Marathon will cover approximately 70 km with 1,950 meters of positive elevation gain, including competitive, Open, and E-Bikes categories. The BTT Half Marathon will cover 50 km with 1,300 meters of positive elevation gain, including Open and E-Bikes categories, thus offering an opportunity for all types of cyclists to participate.
