TUVISA Achieves New Summer Usage Record with 2.7 Million Trips

July and August saw 272,463 more trips compared to last year, an 11.2% year-on-year growth, with August showing the largest increase.

TUVISA, the urban bus service in Vitoria-Gasteiz, has set a new record for summer usage, exceeding 2.7 million trips and showing substantial growth compared to the previous year.

The urban bus service of Vitoria-Gasteiz, TUVISA, has concluded the months of July and August with its highest-ever usage, registering a total of 2,712,317 trips. This figure represents an increase of 272,463 trips compared to the same period in 2025, marking an 11.2% year-on-year growth. Both months saw an upward trend, which intensified in August.
In July, 1,552,738 trips were recorded, 122,577 more than the previous year (an 8.6% increase). In August, the number of trips reached 1,159,579, an increase of 149,886 users (a 14.8% rise).
The BEI (Intelligent Electric Bus) continues to be a key component of the public transport offering, with 773,171 trips between July and August, 5.5% more than the same period last year. Three out of every ten trips on the TUVISA network were on the BEI. Following in terms of usage volume were line L4 Lakua – Mariturri with 372,869 trips (+11.2%), L6 Zabalgana – Arkaiate with 357,816 trips (+10%), and L5 Arkaiate – Jundiz with 308,516 uses (+10.6%).
In percentage terms, the lines that grew the most compared to last summer were L8 Unibertsitatea (+26.5%) and L9 Gamarra – Goikolarra (+26.4%).

The Line 11 is gaining momentum in September. This new line, operational since July 23rd, has accumulated 27,857 uses up to September 13th. In its first nine days of service, from July 23rd to 31st, it recorded 4,582 uses, averaging 509 per day. In August, it had 13,930 uses with a daily average of 449.
A trend change is becoming apparent since the beginning of September. Between the 1st and 13th of the month, 9,345 uses were registered, representing 67% of the total August volume in less than half the days. The daily average rose to 719 uses, 60.1% more than in August, and the average occupancy increased from 9.99% to 15.97%, almost six percentage points higher. On weekdays between September 7th and 11th, the line saw between 903 and 993 daily uses.
TUVISA's summer balance is also complemented by positive data from the Gautxori night service, which registered 44,734 uses between July and August, 4,376 more than in the same period of 2025. This increase in usage is particularly significant on the G3 Armentia – Zabalgana line.
