Sonia Díaz de Corcuera, currently the Councilor for Culture and Education, will become the new First Deputy Mayor of the Vitoria-Gasteiz City Council and will also assume the spokesperson role for the PNV municipal group. Meanwhile, Iker González de Garibay will join the Corporation as a new PNV councilor.

These changes follow the resignation of Beatriz Artolazabal from her councilor position, formalized this morning during an extraordinary plenary session. Artolazabal is beginning a new chapter as a regional senator and spokesperson for the Basque Group in the Senate. During her farewell speech, Artolazabal thanked political groups, her government colleagues, and municipal workers for their shared work over the years, advocating for politics based on respect, dialogue, and the ability to reach agreements.
In her final words as a councilor, Artolazabal stated she leaves "grateful for having been able to contribute and, above all, with full confidence in Vitoria-Gasteiz and in the people who make it advance every day."
Iker González de Garibay holds a degree in Information Sciences (Journalism) from the University of the Basque Country (EHU) and a Master's in Patrimonial Management from the Institute of Financial Studies in Barcelona. His professional career has been linked to communication, journalism, financial consulting, commercial management, and marketing. He worked for 18 years at the Baskonia-Alavés Group, holding various responsibilities in marketing, sponsorship management, and Corporate Social Responsibility.
Since 2022, he has been working as a sports and executive coach and trainer, collaborating with sports professionals and public and private organizations.
González de Garibay is expected to take office as a councilor in the coming days.
