The Vitoria-Gasteiz City Council will intensify its cleaning and waste collection services for the upcoming La Blanca Festivities, ensuring the city's hygiene and cleanliness, particularly on August 4th, the day of Celedón's descent.
Throughout the six-day festival, a team of approximately 250 individuals will work to maintain the city's streets and squares in optimal condition for the enjoyment of residents and visitors. This was stated by Pascual Borja, the Councilor for Environmental Management.
For the afternoon of Celedón's descent, a special deployment will include additional containers at the entrances to the Virgen Blanca square to prevent the entry of inappropriate items. The cleaning brigade for this area will consist of 81 operators and will utilize collection vehicles, washers, and sweepers.
Special attention will be given to festive zones such as the Arab souk, the txosnas (food stalls), the fairground, and the blusas and neskas parade route. Catering waste collection will also be enhanced, anticipating the large volume of waste generated during these celebrations.
The cleaning efforts will primarily utilize ecological and sustainable products, including solvents, degreasers, odorizers, and repellents, to ensure greater efficiency and better results.
Prior to the festival's commencement, since July 20th, special cleaning operations have been carried out in the central streets of the Ensanche and Casco Medieval districts. Conditioning work has also been undertaken at the Mendizabala fairground.
