The Aztarna Beltza festival in Vitoria-Gasteiz will celebrate its eighth edition from July 2nd to 5th, with Matxete square serving as the main stage. Soul, hip-hop, and funky rhythms will take center stage, and this year's event brings several new features.
Among the headliners is O'Funk'illo, a band known as "Funky andaluz embrutessío" formed in 1997. The festival's shift to early July marks an earlier date than its usual late-month schedule.
At Matxete square, both established black music artists and emerging talents will perform. According to the organizers, the aim is to "further improve sound quality and gain more space for enjoyment and dancing".
The opening event, featuring Beauty Spot & Father Alien, will be held at the Jardines de Falerina. On Friday, Kloy MC and Coca Cola & Mentos & Friends will perform, followed by the night's main act, Helen Helen and Ay Trick.
Saturday will begin with stories by Arantza Cordero, followed by a special performance by O'Funk'Illo in Vitoria, featuring beatboxing for percussion instead of drums. The afternoon will include DJ sets and concerts by Soul Cream, Erro Berriak, The Sweet Vandals, and DJ Keb Darge.
On Sunday, the Goizargi Gospel Choir will open the day, followed by a set from local DJ DJ Risi. In the afternoon, the band Magufada will present their unique blend, and the festival will conclude with a performance by Haylen.
