The International Professional Illustration Encounter of Euskadi, Irudika, celebrates its tenth anniversary at Artium from October 22-24, addressing trends and visions in contemporary illustration.

The International Professional Illustration Encounter of Euskadi, Irudika, celebrates its tenth anniversary at Artium from October 22-24, consolidated as an international meeting point for illustration and the editorial sector. Over the past decade, the event has helped place the region on the international illustration map, bringing together diverse perspectives, trends, and approaches to contemporary creation.
This year, the event, supported by the Vitoria-Gasteiz City Council, the Provincial Council of Álava, the Basque Government's Department of Culture, and other entities, will connect 39 professionals, publishers, and cultural agents from around the world, fostering networks and opening new avenues for collaboration.
The encounter aims to bring professional illustration closer to all audiences, focusing on transversal themes and supports such as podcasts, performances, music videos, comics, and pure, intuitive drawing. It will also feature talks with international artists, publishers, and agents, highlighting minorities and marginalized groups.
Irudika will unfold its content across four areas: professional meetings, workshops, artistic residencies, and conferences. There will be a physical capacity for 125 attendees, with options for online participation, a virtual gallery of works, and an intranet. All content will be broadcast free of charge on irudika.eus.
In its ten years of existence, Irudika has hosted over 1,300 illustrators, programmed 150 conferences with 350 invited professionals, and facilitated 2,000 professional meetings. This initiative promotes the internationalization of the Basque illustration sector and showcases other graphic cultures to enrich local creators.
