Ertzaintza Arrests Man in Vitoria for Violent Mobile Phone Robbery

A 35-year-old man has been apprehended in connection with a violent assault and theft in the Old Town last February.

The Ertzaintza has arrested a 35-year-old man in Vitoria for a violent robbery committed last February in the Old Town, where the victim was assaulted to steal their mobile phone.

The arrest is the result of an investigation into events that occurred during the early hours of February 27. At that time, two men accosted a 37-year-old Spanish national in Vitoria's Old Town.
The assailants violently beat the victim until he fell to the ground. Once immobilized, they searched his belongings and stole his mobile phone.
Upon learning of the incident, the Ertzaintza launched an investigation to locate the perpetrators. Inquiries led to the identification of one of the alleged assailants, a man of Maghrebi origin with numerous previous arrests for similar offenses.
Officers located the suspect yesterday afternoon. Following his arrest, accused of a violent robbery offense, the Ertzaintza transferred him to police facilities for the relevant proceedings. The investigation remains open to identify and locate the accomplice who participated in the robbery.
