This strategic document was approved last week by the Governing Council and subsequently presented to the EITB Board of Directors. The agreement foresees a total investment of 91.5 million euros, allocated to ordinary and technological investments, as well as to promoting audiovisual production.
Of this amount, 56.5 million euros will be allocated to real investments until 2029, which will raise EITB's accumulated investment between 2022 and 2029 to 107 million euros. In the audiovisual field, the document includes a commitment to allocate 35 million euros to the production of films and series in Basque over the coming years. This initiative will guarantee support for Basque cinema and strengthen the production of serialized fiction in Basque, through a specific fund for fiction projects in original Basque version.
The 2026-2029 Program-Contract will ensure the viability of EITB's strategic investment plan, which includes projects such as Miramon Faktoria, the new headquarters in Vitoria-Gasteiz, the implementation of the transmedia model in news and sports newsrooms, and the second phase of the group's internal digital transformation and technological renewal. Likewise, the document highlights a significant commitment to cybersecurity, with the aim of strengthening technological resilience and ensuring the security of public communication systems and services.
With this agreement, the Basque Government and EITB establish a roadmap to strengthen the Basque audiovisual system, promote cultural creation in Basque, and adapt public communication services to new technological and social challenges.
