The celebrations in Vitoria-Gasteiz will kick off on May 25th with a 'power walking' event through the neighborhoods of El Pilar, Txagorritxu, and Gazalbide. On May 26th, the official ceremony will take place, featuring a look back at the origins of the facilities and discussions with staff and long-time users.
Local community members have been deeply involved in the preparations. An intergenerational project from IES Francisco de Vitoria has decorated the center's glass facade with a large number 20, while photography students are exhibiting works that highlight the social importance of this community hub.
The program will conclude on May 28th with the 'El Pilar in the street' initiative, which will bring sports activities such as fencing, basketball, and muay thai to public spaces, promoting neighborhood engagement.
“"Thanks to the work of these people and the neighborhood's citizens, both individually and collectively, the El Pilar civic center is a reference point and meeting place for the entire area."
