The Vitoria-Gasteiz City Council, through its Municipal Basque Language Service, has initiated a new edition of the ‘Euskararekin aberats’ campaign. The aim is to publicize the linguistic advisory service offered year-round to service companies, hospitality establishments, and businesses in the city. Additionally, various promotional activities will be held within these businesses during October and November.
The Councillor for Basque Language, María Nanclares, explains, “With this campaign, the City Council aims to support Vitoria-Gasteiz’s shops and hospitality businesses by providing them with tools and advice to incorporate and strengthen the use of Basque in their daily activities. This way, we contribute to expanding the presence of our language in the city’s commerce and hospitality, and provide citizens with more spaces and opportunities to use it in their commercial and leisure interactions”.
This campaign, continuing previous initiatives like ‘Gasteizen Bai!’ and ‘Eskatu euskaraz, eskaini euskaraz’, emphasizes the importance of offering and receiving service in Basque, fostering closer and more trusting relationships between establishments and customers. This offers added value to both businesses and consumers in Vitoria-Gasteiz.
This year's program includes, on Saturday, November 21, the musical storytelling event ‘Azken hostoa’, a proposal for families based on Basque mythology. The activity will take place at 5:00 PM in the El Boulevard shopping center.
Furthermore, the City Council will recognize the efforts of three establishments in the city for their commitment to promoting and fostering the Basque language in Vitoria-Gasteiz.
