A writer will narrate the concert Vitoria-Gasteiz in Ten Melodies for the first time alongside the Municipal Music Band. The event is scheduled for Tuesday, April 21st, at 7:00 PM, in the main hall of the Jesús Guridi Conservatory.
This gathering will merge local history and the symphonic music of Jesús Guridi with the writer's literary work. The author has created the texts and will serve as the narrator during the performance. Admission will be free with an invitation, which can be collected at Musiketxea from 9:30 AM to 9:00 PM.
The writer explained that the texts review the entire history of Vitoria-Gasteiz. For her, the city was once a village, a fortress, a town of merchants, and a land of welcome. She highlighted that the city's inhabitants “worked and fought tirelessly throughout the centuries,” enabling its evolution from a small settlement to a beautiful city.
Furthermore, the event also serves as a small tribute to the artisans who gave their names to the streets, the builders of palaces and churches, and to musicians and writers. It also honors the men and women who strive to keep its history, customs, trajectory, and characters alive. Without them, it would be difficult to be here today.
The repertoire will be based on Jesús Guridi's ten Basque melodies, with the writer's literature acting as the narrative thread. Additionally, the concert will include “Maitea, nun zira?” by José Uruñuela.
The concert will be a sonic and literary journey through the milestones of Vitoria-Gasteiz. The concert director, Luis Orduña, emphasized the union between musical creation and the literary proposal as part of a distinct artistic experience. According to Orduña, the show transcends the traditional concert format, creating a space that unites disciplines and languages.
The Municipal Band promotes this project as part of a cultural mediation initiative based on prior collaboration with social groups. Through this program, the Band brings the concert's content closer and encourages the participation of these groups as active listeners.
A total of 400 people from BIZAN, ASPACE, Itxaropena, and the Street Education program will attend after participating in preliminary activities with the Band. Remaining tickets will be available to any interested person and can be collected at Musiketxea, from 9:30 AM to 9:00 PM.
Invitations will be distributed until capacity is reached. The event will unite history, music, and literature for the first time in this format in Vitoria-Gasteiz.
