The Montehermoso cultural center in Vitoria-Gasteiz will host the Book Days 2026 event this year, running from April 13 to 23. For the first time, the event changes venue and will offer free admission until full capacity is reached. All sessions will begin at 6:30 PM, will include a sign language interpreter on two days, and will have a book sales and signing point.
The Municipal Library Network organizes these days with the aim of spreading culture and reading habits. This year, they seek to bring life to the Montehermoso cultural space and offer activities for all ages. The goal is to create a meeting point between culture and citizens through talks, interviews, and experiences centered around books.
The program includes encounters with authors and creators from various disciplines. Nativel Preciado will open the agenda on April 13 with the presentation of El pan de mis hijos, a novel of intrigue and humor. Journalist Aitziber Pérez de Karkamo will conduct the interview. On Tuesday, April 14, Bernardo Atxaga, winner of the National Narrative Prize, will present Enarak in Euskera. Wednesday, April 15, will focus on visual storytelling, with comic author Laura Pérez Vernetti showcasing La venus de los tacones.
On Thursday, April 16, Lorenzo Silva will present Con nadie, interviewed by journalist Naiara López de Munain. Tuesday, April 21, will feature a double session with text adapter Javier Alcázar and illustrator Manu Arroyal, who will present the Easy Reading adaptation of Nando López's La edad de la ira. On Thursday, April 23, the Martxoak 3 Association will award the prize for the literary contest Letras por la M3moria. This competition aims to bring the events of March 3, 1976, closer to the public and foster literary creation, as part of the initiatives commemorating the 50th anniversary of these events.
In parallel to the talks, from April 13 to 23, municipal libraries will invite the reading community to join a collaborative action. A mural will be created where reading suggestions can be left in written or illustrated format, reflecting the preferences and emotions of readers in Vitoria-Gasteiz.
