The incident occurred last Wednesday, April 24, around 6:00 PM. Ertzaintza officers were dispatched to the Adurtza neighborhood in Vitoria-Gasteiz after receiving a report of a robbery. Upon arrival, they contacted the victim, a 90-year-old man with reduced mobility who uses a walker.
According to the victim's account, the assailant surprised him from behind, and after a struggle that ended with the elderly man on the ground, managed to snatch the watch from his wrist. Due to the fall, immediate medical assistance was requested to treat the man at the scene.
The partial resolution of the case was made possible thanks to a witness who saw the material perpetrator of the robbery flee the building entrance and head towards a young man waiting nearby with an electric scooter to facilitate the escape.
The citizen managed to detain the person who assisted the robber until the patrols arrived. Given this evidence, Ertzaintza officers arrested the accomplice. The detainee, a 25-year-old man, was brought before judicial authorities on Thursday morning.
The investigation remains open at the Ertzain-etxea of Vitoria-Gasteiz with the aim of identifying and locating the main perpetrator of the robbery.
