The chosen projects will receive individualized advice and mentorships to improve their quality and potential. The Apika LAB program, aimed at productions selected in Vitoria-Gasteiz and Álava, seeks to strengthen the audiovisual sector by facilitating the development of feature films and offering personalized support to their teams.
This year's edition will feature the support of the Ministry of Culture, covering travel, accommodation, and accreditation for one person from two projects at a film market. Additionally, EiTB will collaborate and participate in a meeting with selected production companies. Two new mentorships will be introduced: "Storybuilding: Narrative Development and Reinforcement" and "Film Distribution and Sales: Strategies for Festivals and Platforms," expanding the international reach and professional market presence of the projects.
The Apika LAB program has supported 30 productions since 2021. Among them are works such as Sacamantecas (by David Pérez Sañudo), Gaua (by Paul Urkijo), and Todos los colores de Bea (by Bea de Silva). In 2026, a total of 30 projects have been submitted, including short films, animation series, fiction, feature films, and documentaries.
According to councilor María Nanclares, the audiovisual sector in Vitoria-Gasteiz and Álava is experiencing a positive moment. In 2025, they hosted 37 filmings, accumulating 300 days of shooting. This year, the city already has 11 filmings, including the series Izaki Pixkat Gardenak (by Maua Produkzioak) and the feature film Romance de la luna negra (by Duende Etxea). The work of Apika LAB is crucial for fostering new projects and promoting the sector's growth.
