The Basque Government and the Añana Quadrilla have signed an agreement to launch the first GAZ service in the rural area of Añana, focusing on youth emancipation.

This new resource will offer face-to-face, free, and personalized attention to young people aged between 16 and 34 in the Añana Quadrilla. The initiative strengthens rural youth emancipation policies and joins the existing GAZ offices in Enkarterri, Barakaldo, Bilbao, Vitoria-Gasteiz, and Donostia.
The pilot project, based on previous experiences, aims to respond to the demographic and social transition in Añana, incorporating the perspective of young people themselves. The service will be located at the Quadrilla's headquarters in Rivabellosa.
The Añana Quadrilla, with nearly 9,900 inhabitants spread across ten municipalities, will benefit from this service. It will provide support in key areas such as housing, employment, training, entrepreneurship, and mobility, enabling young people to be protagonists of their own autonomy.
According to the 'Emantzipazioari Begiratzen' report, 51.9% of rural youth prefer to emancipate within their own environment. Factors like housing, employment, and services are crucial for building sustainable autonomous life projects in rural areas.
Councillor Nerea Melgosa highlighted that "this resource reinforces the Basque Government's commitment to rural youth and their right to choose where to develop their lives," contributing to territorial cohesion and equal opportunities.
The agreement will be valid for two years. The Basque Government will contribute a total of 178,000 euros, amounting to 89,000 annually, to ensure the development and service capacity in the territory.
