The San Bartolomé festivities in Oikia, Zumaia, have begun with a lively atmosphere and a packed agenda of events, including a popular tortilla competition.

The neighborhood of Oikia in Zumaia is celebrating its San Bartolomé festivities with great enthusiasm. The events kicked off on Friday with the opening 'chupinazo' (firecracker), followed by a 'bertso poteo' (poetry and drinks session) led by Oihana Iguaran and Jon Maia, and a communal dinner. In the evening, attendees enjoyed a 'romería' (traditional Basque dance music) with Ostolaza and Larrañaga.
On Saturday, from early morning, local youth traditionally danced their way through farmhouses and homes. At midday, a potato tortilla contest took place in a joyful atmosphere. Nine pairs participated, and the tortilla prepared by Maialen and Mikel was declared the best, earning them a meal prize at Muniosoro.
In the afternoon, a cider tasting event was held, enlivened by the Kitadelpare 'txaranga' (brass band). The evening featured a 'romería' by the group Obaneuke, followed by DJ Patx playing music until the early morning hours.
Sunday will see the elderly of the town take center stage. At 12:30 PM, a tribute will be held in the fronton court, followed by a pelota match between the pairs Sasiain-Urruzola and H. Murua-Irazustabarrena. Afterwards, the town's retirees will have their own lunch at Muniosoro.
The afternoon will be dedicated to rural sports: in stone lifting, Olaia Esnaola and Lorea Esnaola will compete; in wood chopping, Mujika-Bihurri and Kortxero-Mugertza will face off. Following the sports festival, there will be ox-cart pulling competitions with Etxabe and Bixki. The day will conclude with a 'romería' by trikitixa players Laja and Lutxurdio.
On Monday, August 24th, San Bartolomé Day will be celebrated. The morning will include a mass and a performance by the Errotaberri Bertso Eskola (poetry school). In the afternoon, the XXXVI. Donkey races will take place featuring Artabilla, Peio, Muniosoro, and Bentuene. The evening will feature a 'romería' with the Elustondo siblings.
On Tuesday, the 25th, children will be the main focus. From 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM, there will be inflatables and a children's lunch. In the afternoon, starting at 3:30 PM, the XVIII. Karrikotxe descent will be held, followed by various activities including water games, crafts, skill tests, and a photo booth. A chocolate tasting is also planned. In the evening, a potluck dinner and karaoke will take place in the square, followed by the V. Zokormazo dinner at 9:00 PM.
The final day of celebrations will be August 28th, San Agustín Day and Blusa Eguna (Shirt Day). The morning will feature mass and popular rural sports, accompanied by trikitixa players Enaitz Alberdi and Erkizi. At 2:30 PM, a paella lunch and bingo will be held. In the afternoon, GUKA will host a children's corner and a performance by Auxtinpotin. The evening will conclude with a 'romería' by Izer and Alabier, and the traditional 'txin-txin' firework display.
