Zarautz is set to host over 130 activities this summer, filling its streets and public spaces with cultural, sports, and festive events.

Zarautz has finalized its summer calendar, coinciding with the final stretch of the San Pelaio festivities. The City Council has unveiled a special program featuring more than 130 activities planned for July and August, which will once again fill the municipality's streets, squares, and public spaces with cultural, sports, and festive offerings for all ages.
The program, coordinated by the Tourism Office, brings together initiatives from various municipal departments, including Tourism, Culture, Sports, and Festivities, as well as numerous local associations, clubs, and festival committees. The aim is to provide a broad and diverse agenda capable of attracting both residents and visitors during the summer season.
The town's mayor, Xabier Txurruka, expressed gratitude for the involvement of individuals and groups collaborating in the organization of activities and neighborhood festivals, highlighting their role in maintaining the town's vibrant summer atmosphere.
Among the most established summer events in Zarautz are the street theater festival Kalerki, Txaparrotan, Sunday pilgrimages, the Bertso Week, weekly herri kirolak (traditional Basque sports) festivals, and the Los 40 Summer Live concert, scheduled for July 31st on the Malecón.
The sports offerings will also have a prominent place. Throughout the summer, competitions in Basque pelota, football, beach handball, beach volleyball, weightlifting, and rowing will be held, in addition to the traditional Getaria-Zarautz swimming crossing, one of the town's most anticipated sporting events.
The cultural program will also feature concerts by the Zarautz Music Band, choral performances, dance shows, family theater, craft fairs, and guided tours of various natural and heritage sites within the municipality.
The most anticipated part of the summer will be the Aste Nagusia (Big Week), celebrated from August 14th to 23rd. During these days, some of the largest events will take place, including fireworks displays on the nights of August 15th and 16th, professional pelota matches, parades of giants and big-heads, and rowing regattas that will conclude the festive program on the final weekend.
A major attraction of the Big Week will be the concerts held at the Dama stage on the Malecón. The lineup begins on August 17th with Gaztea Gaua, featuring performances by Olaia Intziarte, Zeatik Ez, and an invited local band. Following this, artists such as Neomak (August 18th), Janus Lester (August 19th), Seguridad Social (August 20th), Puro Relajo (August 21st), and Leire Martínez (August 22nd) will take the stage.
