Weightlifting from Zarautz continues to stand out internationally, with a local athlete achieving remarkable results in European and World championships, confirming her progress.

The young athlete from the ZKE Halterofilia team in Zarautz has participated in two important international events during the 2026 season, achieving high-level results. This demonstrates significant advancement in her sports career.
In April, at the 2026 European Senior Weightlifting Championship held in Batumi, Georgia, the athlete competed in the 53 kg category. The Zarautz native lifted 79 kg in the snatch and 98 kg in the clean and jerk, totaling 177 kg. With these results, she secured 6th place in the snatch, 9th in the clean and jerk, and 8th overall, placing her among Europe's best.
Following the European event, she immediately moved on to the next major challenge: the 2026 Junior World Weightlifting Championship (U20), held in Ismailia, Egypt. There, she also demonstrated an excellent level, lifting 79 kg in the snatch and 100 kg in the clean and jerk, for a total of 179 kg. The athlete achieved 8th place in the snatch, 11th in the clean and jerk, and 9th overall, thus entering the world's Top10.
