The Zarautz Choir will hold its summer concert this coming Saturday at the Franciscan Church. The performance will be conducted by Jaione Eskudero and will feature the collaboration of several musicians.

The Zarautz Choir has already participated in 10 events in the first half of the year and plans to carry out a dozen more activities before the year ends. As the town's choir, their main objective is to have a beautiful repertoire of songs ready for any occasion and need.
The concert on Saturday will consist of songs from various genres, including polyphonic Basque songs, sacred, profane, and folk pieces. The majority of the composers will be Basque, such as Juan Urteaga, Javier Busto, Luis Aramburu, Benito Lertxundi, Mikel Markez, Antton Valverde, En Tol Sarmiento, and Anje Duhalde. Additionally, they will perform two foreign church songs: one by Georgy Bardos and another by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.
A special segment will be dedicated to honoring the poet and Basque enthusiast from Zarautz, Xabier Lizardi, on his 130th anniversary, with three songs. These include 'Oi Lur' by Benito Lertxundi, 'Mendigaña' by Mikel Markez, and 'Bihotzean Min Dut' by Antton Valverde, all inspired by Lizardi's poetry.
Almost all the songs to be performed have been adapted for the Zarautz Choir. The musician Josean Paskual will accompany them on the keyboard, and Zarautz flutists Igor Garzia and Oihana Chico will also participate. The conductor of the performance will be Jaione Eskudero.
Jaione Eskudero has completed 30 years this year as the director of the Zarautz Choir and 40 years as the director of Zarautz-Txiki (now Zarazte). Furthermore, four members, Aizpea Zubia, Eneritz Garmendia, Ainara Landa, and Goretti Igoa, have been singing in the choir for 40 years, having spent almost all stages of their lives singing with Jaione.
