Verónica García is the new Head of Tourism for the Urola Kosta Mancomunidad, tasked with improving the region's tourism management and fostering economic growth.
Verónica García has recently taken on the role of Head of Tourism for the Urola Kosta Mancomunidad. This newly established position is crucial for advancing the management of a tourism model designed to generate wealth and create stable, quality employment within the region.
Azahara Domínguez, the Provincial Deputy for Mobility, Tourism, and Territorial Planning of the Gipuzkoa Provincial Council, highlighted the significance of Urola Kosta. The region ranks as the third-largest tourist destination in Gipuzkoa by visitor numbers and is actively striving to become a leading destination for family tourism.
Domínguez emphasized that García's appointment is «especially important» at a time when Gipuzkoa is solidifying the foundations of its new tourism model. This model rests on two key pillars: fostering territorial economic development through the de-seasonalisation and de-localisation of tourist flows, and strengthening an industry that not only attracts visitors but also contributes to the care of the territory and the well-being of its residents.
«We want the tourism management in our regions to primarily aim at creating stable, dignified, and quality employment opportunities, enabling those working in the tourism sector to develop their life projects in Gipuzkoa», stated the deputy. To achieve this, the focus is on «reducing seasonality, diversifying activities throughout the year, and promoting balanced economic development that directly benefits local residents».

Ion Arozena, president of the Urola Kosta Mancomunidad, believes that the hiring of the tourism technician «is an important step to consolidate Urola Kosta's trajectory in tourism management in recent years and to respond to future challenges». He added that the goal is for «tourism to contribute equitably to the economic and social development of Zarautz and the region, preserving the well-being of citizens, our identity, and our natural and cultural heritage».

"Having a specialized professional will allow us to further strengthen collaboration with the Gipuzkoa Provincial Council, develop the region's tourism offer in a coordinated manner, and continue consolidating Urola Kosta as a sustainable, quality, and competitive destination that is attractive year-round. This hiring also reaffirms our commitment to a tourism model that benefits the entire territory"
