Urrestilla has begun its San Juan festivities this weekend, experiencing warm weather, with experts forecasting high temperatures to persist. Consequently, attendees are advised to seek shade and stay hydrated to fully enjoy the celebrations. Despite the heat, last night's concerts saw a large turnout for performances by Naizena, Modus Operandi, and DJ Fury.
Sports and music filled the weekend leading up to San Juan in Urrestilla. Today will be a day of rest, but tomorrow, events organized by the Urrestilla Festival Committee will resume. Tomorrow's schedule includes a mountain hike to Loretoko, accompanied by trikitilaris, and a children's corner with Gukarekin. The San Juan festivities will officially commence on Tuesday with the reading of the proclamation and the firing of the starting rocket.
According to the program prepared for the upcoming days, on Monday, June 22, the mountain hike to Loretoko will start at 10:00 AM, enlivened by trikitilaris, and at 5:30 PM, there will be a children's corner with Gukarekin. On Tuesday, June 23, the eve of San Juan, the proclamation will be read at 9:00 PM, followed by the rocket launch, a communal dinner, and at midnight, the bringing in of the San Juan tree. Later, at 12:30 AM, the San Juan bonfire will be lit, followed by a traditional dance with the group Laket.
On Wednesday, June 24, San Juan Day, the program will begin at 11:00 AM with a street parade by young trikitilaris, accompanied by giants and big-heads, followed by the Azpeitia Municipal Music Band. The main mass will be at 12:00 PM, and at 1:00 PM, the big-heads will parade. In the evening, at 8:00 PM, concerts will feature Aiama, Fan&Go, and DJ Indate.
On Thursday, June 25, San Juan Txiki Day (Little San Juan Day) will be celebrated, starting with cider at 12:30 PM, followed by registration for the mus tournament (2:00 PM-2:45 PM) and the tournament itself (3:15 PM). In the afternoon, there will be inflatables and a children's snack. On Friday, June 26, the Third San Juan, children's games (5:00 PM) and a potato omelet competition (6:30 PM) will take place, followed by the 'burial of the tree'.
