The Azkoitia Children's Drum Parade faced continuous heavy rain on Saturday afternoon, prompting organizers to move the main event to the Gurea sports hall and shorten the planned street procession.

The weather forecast proved accurate on Saturday afternoon, as persistent rain severely impacted the Azkoitia Children's Drum Parade. Although a short street parade was initially intended, ultimately only the route from the square to the Gurea sports hall was completed, with the main festivities taking place indoors.
Organizers made the final decision just minutes before 5:00 PM. Approximately 200 children, waiting in Azoka Plaza, were already wearing rain ponchos. The float dedicated to the 50th anniversary of the Sahatsa dance group was brought to the square, but no children boarded it. Sweets and confetti, meant to be thrown from the float, were instead distributed by the 1st-grade children dressed as dantzaris, following the main flag-bearer, while small chefs with chorizos around their necks closed the procession.
Upon arrival at the Gurea sports hall, spectators waited outside under umbrellas while the participants found their places inside. Once the doors opened, the stands gradually filled. By the time the drummers and audience arrived, the giants of the dancers, specially brought from Oñati for the occasion, were already on the fronton court. The music band positioned themselves in front of them to play all the drum parade pieces consecutively.
The drum festival concluded in less than an hour, but the celebration itself continued. All participants of the drum parade had the opportunity to enjoy a hearty snack at the sports hall. Additionally, many children took advantage of the photocall set up by Guka to take pictures, which will be published tomorrow on the Azkoitia Guka website.
