Maite Urteaga wins Euskadi Time Trial Championship in Aizarnazabal

Aizarnazabal and its surroundings hosted cycling races in memory of Joxe Larrarte and Gervais, alongside the Euskadi championship.

Aizarnazabal and its surrounding area became the stage for cycling races yesterday afternoon, with the commemoration of races in memory of Joxe Larrarte and Gervais. This year, in addition to the Gipuzkoa championship, Aizarnazabal also hosted the Euskadi championship, and divided into different categories, approximately 50 cyclists participated in the event.
In the women's under-23 and elite categories, five cyclists competed. They, like in all other categories, started one after another with a one-minute interval. Maite Urteaga from Zumaia slightly improved her previous year's time, completing the 14.5-kilometer course between Aizarnazabal, Muniosoro, Bedua, and Zumaia in 20.25.49. Ayala Serrano finished second in both the Euskadi and Gipuzkoa championships, stopping the clock at 21.11.99, and Naya Mangas came in third with a time of 22.19.51.
The men's race in these categories, held in memory of Gervais, started in Aizarnazabal and headed towards Iraeta. The eighteen cyclists who competed covered a 21-kilometer route. Aitor Agirre from Zumaia was second in both the Gipuzkoa and Euskadi championships with a time of 26.09.54. The under-23 cyclist Ander Otegi was the fastest, and Aimar Alarcia secured third place with a time of 26.22.59.
