The first two eliminators of the L. Lizardi Youth Bertsolari Prize will be held this week, on Thursday and Friday evenings, at the Santa Klara venue in Zarautz. These events are organized by Motxian Etxebeltz bertsogunea and the Zarautz City Council as part of the Euskal Astea (Basque Week).
A total of 16 young bertsolaris will participate. Initially, two eliminatory rounds will be contested in the zortziko format. The winner of each eliminator will directly qualify for the final, while the other four finalists will be determined based on points.
The sessions will commence at 10:00 PM and admission will be free. In Thursday's eliminator, the following bertsolaris will take the stage: Araitz Katarain (Mallabia), Bittor Altube (Abadiño), Ekhiñe Zapiain (Bera), Haizea Arana (Eskoriatza), Julene Iturbe (Azkoitia), Amets Aizpurua (Getaria), Uxue Alkorta (Zarautz), and Maddi Aiestaran (Beasain). Aimar Sorazu will serve as the gai jartzaile (topic presenter).
On Friday, the bertsolaris performing will be: Adei Urbitarte (Zarautz), Eki Mateorena (Leitza), Haira Aizpurua (Sara), Mikel Etxezarreta (Olaberria), Martin Abarrategi (Aramaio), Suhar Gesalaga (Azpeitia), Irantzu Idoate (Hazparne), and Ekain Tolaretxipi (Hernani). Maite Aizpurua will provide the topics.
