The project announced at the beginning of the year by the Orio City Council to establish a community energy initiative is progressing. The project, undertaken in collaboration with Goiener and supported by a grant from the Gipuzkoa Provincial Council, has successfully passed its initial phase. The registration period, which closed in April, saw over 200 applications.
In recent months, Goiener has individually analyzed the electricity consumption of the registered residents. Through this analysis, they have calculated the appropriate energy package for each applicant, the subscription fee to be paid, and an estimate of the annual savings on their electricity bills.
After each resident has received and reviewed this personalized analysis, the time has come to decide whether to become a member of the energy community. Those who completed the initial registration have until November 6th to finalize their commitment.
Residents who did not participate in the initial registration also have the opportunity to apply to join the energy community until November 6th. These new applications will be placed on a waiting list and reviewed annually based on community member changes. However, depending on the number of definitive registrations, it may be possible to accept some new applications from the outset. New applications can be submitted online or in person.
Furthermore, the Orio City Council itself will also be a member of the energy community. To facilitate this, the municipal council has approved the community's statutes, marking another necessary step towards its launch.
