Jon Guridi will not continue with Deportivo Alavés. The player from Azpeitia and the Vitoria-based club have not reached an agreement for the player's contract renewal, thus concluding his four-year spell at Mendizorrotza.
Guridi arrived in Vitoria-Gasteiz in the summer of 2022 from Real Sociedad. Since his arrival, he connected with the fans and became an important player for the team. His role was key in the promotion season to La Liga under coach Luis García Plaza. In the top flight, Guridi maintained his prominence.
This past season, he also had significant playing time, especially in the final stretch of the season with Quique Sánchez Flores, helping the team secure their permanence.
In total, Jon Guridi has played 148 official matches for Alavés. During this period, he directly contributed to 13 goals, with 7 goals and 6 assists, becoming one of the most recognizable players in the locker room.
The club has thanked the player for his "professionalism, dedication, and commitment" over these years. They have also wished him "the best of luck" in his future sporting endeavors.
Meanwhile, the future of Carlos Protesoni remains unresolved. The Uruguayan midfielder has a renewal offer on the table, but no agreement has been finalized yet.
