This year's edition will see 50 bertsolaris compete across 15 sessions, structured in three phases: the initial phase, the semi-finals, and the grand final. The final is set to take place at the Nafarroa Arena in Pamplona on December 20th.
For the Debabarrena region, the championship holds particular significance as one of the semi-final sessions will be held in Eibar on October 31st. This session will feature two finalists from 2022, Alaia Martin and Nerea Ibarzabal. They will be joined by the winners of today's first phase in Hazparne and the session on October 11th in Agurain, as well as those who rank 5th and 8th by points in the initial phase.
The championship adopts a new name this year: Euskal Herriko Bertsolari Txapelketa (Basque Country Bertsolari Championship). Furthermore, the visual identity, scenography, and theme music are the result of a collective creative process. Irati Antia developed the imagery, Malen Agirre the scenography, and Lumi (comprising Nahia Zubeldia and Manu Matxain) the theme music. The presentation occurred on September 10th at the Sanagustin cultural center in Azpeitia.
The championship's progress can be followed across various media outlets. The Bertsozale Association's portal will provide updated information, including results, standings, and practical details. ETB1 will broadcast the semi-finals and the final live, while the initial phase sessions will be available on ETB Onen. Additionally, the specialized website Bertsoa.eus will offer in-depth coverage, featuring post-session chronicles, expert opinions, and the best-scored bertso performances. They will also release eight episodes of the Bidegurutzean video podcast.
