The PNV has presented a plan for the comprehensive renovation of Beheko plaza, Erkibe, and Plaza Zuloaga in Zumaia. The party considers these areas to be «the heart of Zumaia» and advocates for a global action to adapt them to the municipality's current and future needs.
For Beheko plaza, a «profound improvement» is proposed due to the deterioration of some elements. Planned actions include renovating seating near the fronton, updating the children's playground, and general public space enhancement, with the goal of making the plaza «lively, attractive, and accessible for people of all ages» once again.
The group also focused on the Senior Citizens' Center, suggesting the installation of air conditioning to improve user comfort in response to recent heatwaves, aligning with a unanimous council agreement from March 2024.
Furthermore, the PNV has called for the recovery of a covered space in Beheko plaza, similar to the old kiosk. The party criticizes the EH Bildu municipal government for not yet executing the project, which had a budget of 125,000 euros allocated in the 2023-2024 participatory budgets.
In Plaza Zuloaga, the proposal includes a complete renovation of the public restrooms, maintaining the exterior appearance while modernizing the interior to enhance accessibility, functionality, and user comfort.
Regarding the Erkibe building, the PNV views it as a «strategic piece» in the transformation of the Beheko plaza area. They propose dedicating it to uses related to childhood, such as a playroom (ludoteca) or a nursery school (haurreskola), highlighting its location next to the garden and the plaza.
Separately, the Zumaia City Council has initiated a participatory process concerning Erkibe, focusing on food sovereignty. While the PNV agrees on the importance of promoting local products, they believe the building is «not the most suitable location» for this objective.
Finally, the PNV points out that the Erkibe project encompasses both the building and its garden, suggesting it would be more logical to define the building's future use first before organizing the exterior space accordingly. They criticize that «the garden is finished, and the future of the Erkibe building remains undefined».
