According to the jeltzale party, the plan was presented as the first step of a long-term project, aiming to organize the area and create a more attractive, functional, and adapted space to current needs. However, three years have passed, and the situation in Landeta has not changed.
The PNV recalls that EH Bildu acknowledged at the time the need to intervene in the area, describing it as a disordered environment with incompatible uses, where homes, industrial activity, hospitality, and disused pavilions coexist, and with evident urban problems requiring comprehensive action.
“"The reports themselves endorse the viability of the project, both from an economic and urban planning perspective. Therefore, we do not understand why it has been left in a drawer."
A jeltzale councilor from the consistory has cast doubt on the foundations of the announcement made by the EH Bildu government team at the time. He stated that “a real expectation was generated regarding the Landeta area; an executable and necessary project was discussed, and today the abandonment is evident. It is legitimate to ask whether that was a serious commitment or an action of an electoral nature.”
The PNV municipal group has emphasized that, after analyzing the plan, they do identify room for improvement, especially concerning collaboration with property owners, but insists that this should not be an obstacle to its development. “We believe that the approach needs to be reviewed, collaboration strengthened, and new objectives defined, if necessary, but not abandoning the project. Landeta needs it,” he affirmed.
This set of circumstances leads the PNV municipal group to request the EH Bildu municipal government to resume the Landeta Special Plan, review it if necessary, and promote it with clear, realistic, and results-oriented planning.
