The City Council of Azpeitia has joined the event organized by the Council of Basque Culture (Euskalgintzaren Kontseilua) for June 13th in Pamplona, calling for people to fill the streets in support of the Basque language. The initiative seeks to reinforce social backing for the language and promote advancements in linguistic policies.
The mobilization will begin at 5:00 PM. Citizens will gather in three different locations before converging in Plaza del Castillo. Each column will represent one of the three core pillars considered essential for the Renaissance of Basque: full official status, a leap in language policies, and the promotion of Basque enthusiasm (euskaltzaletasuna).
According to the Council, this initiative is a continuation of the path started in 2024, aiming to socialize the necessity of transitioning the Basque language from its current linguistic situation to a state of revitalization.
The Euskera Table of Azpeitia has organized a bus to travel to Pamplona. The round trip will cost 5 euros, and the bus will depart at 3:00 PM from in front of the health center (ambulatorio).
