Children's drum parade in Azkoitia, weather-dependent.

The children's drum parade in Azkoitia, scheduled for Easter Saturday, is under threat of bad weather, and organizers will make a final decision on the route tomorrow, at 3:00 PM.

The Umore Ona and Tata associations, with the collaboration of the Azkoitia City Council, have organized the children's drum parade for tomorrow. However, meteorological forecasts predict rain and poor weather for the afternoon. Therefore, organizers will be monitoring the sky until the last moment, and the definitive decision will be made tomorrow, at 3:00 PM.
The parade will start at 5:00 PM in the main square, but from there, two options are being considered. If it rains heavily, the children will go directly to the Gurea pelota court. Otherwise, they will gather at the fronton and, before performing the full repertoire, will do a shorter street parade. Joxan Mendizabal, a member of the Tata association, stated that they will try to follow the usual route through the streets, even if without stops.

"We will try to follow the usual route street by street, even if we don't make stops. In that case, the groups will go from the town square to Balda square; from there, through Ibaiondo street, to the church atrium; and from the church wall, to the Gurea fronton. They will play all the pieces in the pelota court. Snacks will also be offered there. In any case, we will make the decision tomorrow at 3:00 PM."

This year, approximately 200 children will participate in the drum parade, including drummers, txapa players, and young cooks from five companies. This edition will pay tribute to the Sahatsa dance group, which celebrates its 50th anniversary. The float closing the parade will be dedicated to Sahatsa, carrying 1st-grade primary students. Additionally, as a novelty, the giants from Oñati (Gipuzkoa), representing two dancers, will be in Azkoitia to open the parade, weather permitting.
Regardless of the rain, the children and young people who will shake drums, txapas, and flags are ready for the celebration, having completed their final rehearsal yesterday evening at Gurea with the support of family and friends.
