Ana Azkoitia will be the mayoral candidate for EAJ in Azkoitia for the upcoming municipal elections, as announced by the party today.

Azkoitia's EAJ (Basque Nationalist Party) officially announced its candidacy today: Ana Azkoitia, the current mayor, will be the party's nominee in the municipal elections scheduled for May 23, 2027. The Local Executive Committee (UBB) has once again backed Azkoitia, highlighting her "closeness, dialogue, seriousness, work, commitment, and PNV values".
Azkoitia expressed that she is taking on the challenge "very gratefully and with enthusiasm," describing being the mayor of her town as a "great honor." "If it is a great honor, it is an enormous responsibility," she stated. "The responsibility not to disappoint the citizens, to try to make room for everyone, to care, to make the best possible decisions for all." The candidate assured that she embraces each responsibility as a commitment and will dedicate her time and energy to it, trusting that citizens can continue building a better town "together".
Ana Azkoitia took office as mayor of Azkoitia in June 2023, after winning the previous municipal elections. Previously, during the two terms of Javier Zubizarreta as mayor, she served as deputy mayor and councillor for Finance, accumulating three terms in the Azkoitia Town Council. She is an economist by profession and left a management position at a bank to become a municipal representative for the PNV in Azkoitia.
