Garbiñe Odriozola, who was a member of the musical group Amagar, passed away today, Monday, in Azpeitia at the age of 70. Odriozola and Amaia Garmendia founded the group Amagar in the 1970s, performing in various towns.
A shared passion for playing guitar and singing brought Odriozola and Garmendia together. They performed songs by Basque singers of the era as well as their own compositions. The band was completed by Unai Frantzesena and Jon Ostolaza, and they released a record.
After several years on stage, the group disbanded. However, members of Amagar held a special concert in 2015, alongside Xabier Saldiase and Unai Irukoa, at the Soreasu theatre, to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Karmelo Etxegarai ikastola.
In a report published in 2017 in the magazine Uztarria, the two musicians discussed their careers.
