The Town Council of Getaria unveiled on Saturday the La Concha Flag won by the local rowing team in 1911, following an excellent restoration project completed by expert restorer Eva González.

Getaria has secured five flags in its history in the Bay of La Concha, three of them in the 19th century and two in the 20th century. The recently presented trophy is the latter, obtained in 1911.
After being found in very poor condition in the town hall's attic, contact was made with Eva González, who works at the Balenciaga Museum, and she was proposed to undertake the restoration.
Her work has been extensive and detailed. Once completed, it will stand as a testament for the future, having been at serious risk of disappearing. It is not yet clear where it will be permanently housed, but for now, it will be on display at the town hall entrance, alongside other recovered old flags.

Additionally, on Sunday at 12:30 PM, the Esperantza rowing boat and its crew for the 2026 season will be presented at the municipal fronton. The young athletes will be introduced to the public one by one.
