Gorliz will celebrate its Santiago Festivals from July 24th to 28th with an extensive program. The events will run from Friday to Monday, offering a variety of activities including popular lunches, concerts, fire bull runs, and children's games.
On July 24th, Friday, the festive atmosphere will kick off in Elexalde, followed by a popular lunch in Estratakoetxe. In the afternoon, there will be games for young people in the Plaza de la Iglesia, and in the evening, the opening speech and the descent of the cuadrillas from Itsasbide street to Ondarganar. The night will conclude in Plaza Ibarreta with a fire bull run and concerts.
On Saturday, July 25th, the Plaza Agirre will host the Agricultural Fair in the morning, along with a water park for children. At noon, a popular lunch will be held in the Plaza San Pedro, and in the afternoon, there will be a mobile cider house and playback sessions in Plaza Ibarreta. The evening will feature a concert in the church parking lot.
On Sunday, July 26th, Estratakoetxe will be the venue for the Cod and Omelette Championships, as well as the Craft Fair in the Plaza Artzelu. At noon, a fanfarre will liven up Elexalde. In the afternoon, a costume parade competition will take place on Itsasbide street, and in the evening, there will be fire bull runs and concerts in Plaza Ibarreta and the church parking lot.
On Monday, July 27th, basketball activities and inflatable bulls will be held in Plaza Ibarreta and the Plaza de la Iglesia, respectively. At noon, there will be poteo (bar hopping) and lunch for cuadrillas. In the afternoon, chess games will take place in Plaza Agirre and DJ Pako will perform in Plaza San Pedro. The night will end with a Muxutruk romeria (traditional Basque festival music and dance) in the church parking lot.
Finally, on Tuesday, July 28th, a foam party will be held in Plaza Ibarreta, and there will be a lunch for retirees and a rumba street performance in Plaza San Pedro. In the afternoon, a bertsolari (improvised Basque poetry singing) session will take place in the church parking lot. The festivals will conclude with an ascent and the award ceremony for the cuadrillas in the Plaza de la Iglesia.
