Tolosa City Council, in collaboration with local stakeholders, has organized the Local Meat Fair from May 7 to 10, filling the town's streets and squares with gastronomic and cultural activities.

This four-day event aims to bring the value, quality, and tradition of local meats closer to the public. The fair will offer a variety of proposals, such as cooking workshops, competitions, tastings, and live music performances.
The first activity will be on Thursday, May 7: the “Through the town, from the butcher shop to the grill” workshop. It will start at 5:50 PM at the Jo meeting point on Kale Nagusia, where participants will learn to select and cook meat cuts from professional butchers, then prepare and taste them in gastronomic societies. Registrations are limited to a maximum of 30 people and can be made on the izenematea.tolosa.eus website.
From Friday to Sunday, a food truck area in Zumarditxikia will combine a wide gastronomic offer with live music. There will be seven stalls offering dishes made with products from local producers, including Harakno, Carnicas Goya, and Basque Truck. Musically, Eider, Bisai, DJ Obrium, Marabiyak, Argazki bat behelainoan, Jo&Swissknife, La Jamba, and Les Cuisiniers will be in charge of enlivening the atmosphere.
Saturday, May 9, will be the main event in Trianguloa square, from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM. The Special Local Meat Producers Fair will be held, with the participation of two producers from the region: Ueta farm from Lizartza (veal) and Aralar’eko from Amezketa (heifer meat). From 11:00 AM, lamb on a spit and roasted, beef picanha, ribs, and steak-chorizo will be available as pintxos.
On the same day, a meat stew competition has been organized for pairs consisting of a child and an adult. A maximum of ten pairs can participate, and registrations must be made on the izenematea.tolosa.eus website. The aim of the competition is to introduce children to the world of cooking. The jury will be composed of members from the Casino and Txinparta societies, and a chef. Prizes will be meals for two people at the Ama, Casa Julian, and Berrobiko Iriarte restaurants.
For the first time at the fair, the “How much do they weigh?” competition will take place in Trianguloa square. Participants will have to guess the weight of a pottoka (Basque pony) and a donkey. Winners will receive 100-euro shopping vouchers for Carnicas Goya and Barriola butcher shops, and two product baskets from local butcher shops will be raffled among participants.
