The development agency Tolosaldea Garatzen has renovated and expanded the region's network of hiking trails, carrying out work in ten municipalities to promote pedestrian mobility and sustainable tourism.

As part of the plan, five new routes have been created in Belauntza, Berrobi, Elduain, Gaztelu, Irura, and Lizartza. Additionally, seventeen existing certified trails have been upgraded in Alegia, Alkiza, Berastegi, Orexa, and Tolosa, improving signage and accessibility.
This initiative is part of the Basque Country Sustainable Tourism Territorial Plan and is funded by Next Generation-EU funds. The goal is to ensure user safety by following the criteria of the Gipuzkoa Mountaineering Federation.
The agency highlighted that these actions aim to showcase the region's natural and cultural heritage, including farmhouses, mills, and landscapes. The project seeks to attract visitors and strengthen the economic viability of local accommodations.
