Plazida Otaño Library Celebrates Tenth Anniversary with Special Program

The Plazida Otaño Library in Zizurkil marks its tenth anniversary on April 23rd with reading club sessions and storytelling events.

The Plazida Otaño Library in Zizurkil will celebrate its tenth anniversary on April 23rd, coinciding with International Book Day, with a special program of literary and cultural events throughout the week.

The library first opened its doors on April 23rd and has now completed a decade as a cultural hub in the town. The City Council has expressed gratitude to all those who have participated in this project, making possible “a creative, critical, and innovative space created by and for the people.”
The celebration program begins today with a Basque literature discussion at 5:30 PM. This session will analyze Itziar Ugarte Irizar's book Gu gabe ere, guided by Iratxe Retolaza. Following this, at 6:30 PM, the library will host the presentation of Maddi Ane Txoperena's book Zaldi bat.
On Thursday, starting at 6:00 PM, the group 'Kontalari2' will offer a storytelling session for the whole family. On Friday, it will be the turn of the children's reading club, led by librarian Ainhoa Sukia, to discuss the book Joemak eta Polasak.
In addition to the library events, other activities will take place in the town. On Friday, the Elizpe pensioners' association will organize the initiative 'Pausoka, adinak ez du inporta'. Participants will gather at 10:00 AM in Joxe Arregi Square and walk along the path towards Asteasu. At 12:00 PM, they will reconvene in the square for a mid-morning snack. In the afternoon, at 7:30 PM in Plazaetxeberri, the song and music video for the Small Schools Festival will be presented.
This Saturday, at 7:00 PM, the documentary Akelarre marearen kontra will be screened at the Iriarte Cultural Center. This feature film tells the story of a music group, and the musicians themselves will participate in the session.
