The signage for two major mountain routes in Tolosa has been updated in recent months, along with new location and direction panels installed in the town center to enhance tourism and mobility.

In recent months, the signage for two mountain routes in Tolosa has been renewed: the PR-GI 114 trail and the path from the Santa Lutzia neighborhood to Uzturre. Additionally, new and comprehensive signage has been installed in the town center aimed at tourism.
The PR-GI 114 route, connecting the Urkizu and Monteskue neighborhoods, links to Tolosa's center via the GR-285 trail. This 12.6-kilometer circular route is shaded by forest and passes by the monument to Lizardi and the Lizarbakar stream.
The path to climb Uzturre mountain starts from the Santa Lutzia neighborhood. Along this 4-kilometer route, 6 new information panels provide details about local heritage, such as old water wells, remains of the San Ignacio sanatorium, biodiversity, and traces of the old telegraph. The route also features a viewpoint overlooking the valley formed by the Oria river, with the Txindoki and Hernio mountains opposite.
Although the routes are not new, the updated signage aims to attract new visitors. In addition to information panels, vertical posts have been placed at junctions, and paint markings have been reinforced at points of uncertainty.
These initiatives were carried out under a collaboration agreement between Tolosaldea Garatzen and the Tolosa City Council, with funding of €1,980,400 from the Basque Government's Department of Tourism, Trade, and Consumption, through European Next Generation funds. The budget for the creation and adaptation of mountain routes amounted to €27,166.37.
Signage in the town center has also been renewed. New location and direction panels have been installed in Felipe Gorriti square, Zerkausia, Trianguloa square, Beotibar pelota court, San Francisco promenade, the bullring, Euskaldunberria bridge, and Zumarditxiki. These will guide residents and visitors to key points (center, Old Town, historic buildings, cultural and sports venues) and transport-related locations (train and taxi stations, parking lots).
Similarly, the new signs will direct towards public services (tourist office, health center, library) and nature and leisure areas (parks). New panoramic panels identify the surrounding mountains, and tree species are also highlighted.
This initiative had a total budget of €71,116.63. Furthermore, the Tolosa City Council will renew the heritage plaques at the entrances of buildings, in four languages (Basque, Spanish, French, and English) and with QR codes to provide building information in audioguide format.
