The closing ceremony of the Market Berri program took place yesterday at the Oñati Faculty of Entrepreneurship, following seven months of work. It presented nine innovative projects to tackle retail challenges in the Basque Country.

The Market Berri program, in its third edition, concluded its academic year yesterday, Tuesday, with an event held at the Oñati Faculty of Entrepreneurship. After seven months of intensive work, the event marked the program's end.
Among those present were Izaskun Gomez, Director of the Commerce Department, and Aitor Lizartza, Coordinator of Mondragon Team Academy. They were the main figures responsible for the event and highlighted the program's significance.
Students from the Entrepreneurship and Innovation Leadership degree programs at the laboratories in Oñati, Irun, and Bilbao have collaborated with retailers and stakeholders in the sector. The objective was to "design innovative solutions to address the real challenges of commerce in the Basque Country", according to the organizers.
The program identified several challenges, such as vacant premises, generational succession, neighborhood activation, digitalization, and new consumption patterns.
Nine projects, selected from an initial 30, were presented today by the students. These projects explore diverse perspectives, including revitalizing commercial areas, creating hybrid physical-digital experiences, sustainability initiatives, circular economy principles, and cultural activation.
